A body has been recovered from water after an extensive search operation by emergency services in Co Waterford on Friday.
Gardai and rescue services were alerted on Thursday night after a man was seen entering the water in Dungarvan.
They received reports that the individual was in trouble just before midnight.
The RNLI and the Rescue 117 helicopter are understood to have assisted in the operation in the Davitt's Quay area.
A second person entered the water in an attempt to help the man, but later got into difficulty before being rescued by Dungarvan Fire Brigade.
A search operation was carried out for the other man on Friday, with gardai and the Coast Guard participating.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí in Dungarvan were alerted to an incident on Thursday 12th August, 2021 at approximately 11.30p.m.
"A man had entered the water at Devonshire Bridge, Dungarvan. A second man entered the water to assist the man but could not reach him and was rescued from the water by Dungarvan Fire Brigade Swift Water rescue unit.
"In a follow up search by the RNLI a body of a man was recovered on Friday 13th August, 2021 at approximately 5.15p.m. The body was removed to the Mortuary at University Hospital Waterford."
