Search resumes for missing swimmer near Marion Bay

The search for a 26-year-old Adelaide man believed to have drowned has resumed off the coast of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula.

Dylan Zidarich was reported missing on Monday morning and South Australia Police started their search at Inneston, near Marion Bay, about midday.

Police believe he got into trouble while swimming at Ethel Wreck Beach.

Emergency services were called to Pondalowie Bay Road, and earlier said they had received reports of a body floating in the water, about 20 metres offshore.

"Dylan and some friends went camping at Pondalowie Bay, they decided to go for a swim," Superintendent Mark Syrus told ABC Radio North and West.

"Dylan and his friend went into the water, but Dylan didn't come back out."

A police helicopter yesterday carried out aerial searches of the area.

"Witnesses lost sight of the man and it's believed he may have been swept towards the cliff area, making retrieval by water extremely dangerous," police said.

State Emergency Service and Country Fire Service volunteers, National Parks rangers, crayfishing boats, jet skiers and paramedics have also assisted with search efforts.

"We even had some local fishers helping with the search effort," Superintendent Syrus said.

"We're trying as much as we can at the moment to locate Dylan."

The search, which police said had been contained to the coastline, resumed about 7:00am, and police have thanked members of the public for their assistance.
