NSW police have confirmed that a man has been found dead in a flood-affected home in the Mid North of NSW as flood and rain conditions worsen.
“About 3pm [Wednesday] emergency services were called to a property at North Moto Road, Moto, following reports of a body being located,” said a police spokesperson, per the ABC.
“Manning-Great Lakes Police District have commenced an investigation after the body of a 63-year-old man was found in a residence impacted by flooding.
“A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.”

Both Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns have passed on condolences to the family of the deceased man.
“It is devastating to hear the tragic news that a man has died at a residence impacted by flooding on the New South Wales Mid North Coast,” Albanese wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“The thoughts of all Australians are with his loved ones and with the community at this time.”
The tragic news comes as rain continues to bucket down. Following more than 50,000 people being cut off by rising flood waters and NSW SES services rescuing more than 500 residents from dangerous situations overnight, the weather incident has been declared a natural disaster.
As it stands, more than 5,300 businesses and homes are without power.
According to the Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Kristy McBain, emergency crews from the Australian Defence Force have been deployed to carry out search and rescue operations for communities that are under threat.

Meanwhile, SES Northern Zone Commander Andrew Cribb has urged people to reach out if they are short on necessities.
“We are asking people if they are short on goods and if they need assistance whilst they’re isolated, that they call 132 500 so they can be included in any plans for re-supply or support in the community,” he said, per the ABC.
