Body found as police search for missing 21-year-old Bailey Mearns in Arbroath

A body has been found during a police search for a missing man from Angus.

Bailey Mearns, 21, was last seen at 7am on January 6 in Strathairlie Avenue, Arbroath .

Since he vanished his frantic girlfriend Katie Louise has been making desperate appeals on social media urging people to help find Bailey.

In one heartbreaking post Katie wrote: "Get me my f*****g boyfriend home, honestly.

"Someone has to know something."

On Friday, police confirmed that the body of a man has been found in Arbroath.

Officers said that, while formal identification has yet to take place, Bailey's family have been informed.

A spokesperson from Tayside Police Division said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has been found in Arbroath.

"Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of missing man Bailey Mearns, 21, have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
