Body found as police forensics tent set up in children's park in Merseyside

A forensics tent has been set up in a children's park in Merseyside after a body was found.

A large police presence on Queens Park in St Helens was spotted at around 9am this morning with a number of forensics officers at the scene.

Residents living close to the park claimed a body was found in the children's play area this morning.

Officers have said that there is an "ongoing police incident" in the park, the Liverpool Echo reports.

One woman said that police had started to make door-to-door enquiries nearby.

Another resident said she had been told by police that they had been called to an incident in the area in the early hours of Sunday.

Police activity appears to be focused on the area around Dilloway Street, which is close to the play area inside the park.
