POLICE involved in the search for a missing Scottish woman have confirmed that a body has been found.
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, officers said that the family of Michelle Conroy has been informed.
Conroy, 57, had last been seen at around 4pm on Saturday May 18 in the Mossgiel Avenue area of Rutherglen.
On Sunday, police put out an appeal for information and said they had confirmed a sighting of Conroy in the Queen’s Park area of Glasgow at around 5.55pm on Saturday May 18.
On Monday afternoon, officers said that a body had been found in the search at around 11am in the Bute Terrace area of Rutherglen.
Police said that although formal identification is yet to take place, Conroy’s family had been informed.
They had said previously that it was “extremely unusual” for Conroy to be out of contact with her family.
On Monday, officers said there were no suspicious circumstances around the death.
A report is to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
