Body found after south coast house fire

An elderly man is believed to have died in a fire in a home on NSW's south coast. (AAP)

A body has been found after a blaze and explosion ripped through a home on NSW's south coast.

Emergency services were called to the home in Moruya Heads, south of Batemans Bay, about 3.15am on Sunday following reports of an explosion and a fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, before finding a body inside the home.

The victim is yet to be formally identified, but is believed a man in his 80s who lived at the home.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
