Body found 3,000ft up mountain in Snowdonia

The body of a man has been found 3,000ft up a mountain in Snowdonia .

A fell runner discovered the body of a walker on the Tryfan peak, in the Ogwen Valley, on Tuesday morning.

The man has not been formally identified but his family have been informed, North Wales Live reported .

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "The body of a male was discovered on Tuesday morning on Tryfan, in the Ogwen Valley, Snowdonia.

"The family have been informed but no further details are available until formal identification has taken place."

Mountain rescue teams were also involved in an operation to recover the body.

An Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team spokesman said: "At approximately 10am a local fell runner found the body of a walker low on the North Ridge and called the police.

"The team worked with the RAF Mountain Rescue Service from RAF Valley to recover the deceased from the mountain and, at this time, it is still unknown how the the casualty died.

"The teams thoughts are with their family and friends at this sad time."
