Body find confirmed as missing Scot Jackson Mason as devastated pals pay tribute

Police have confirmed the body of a man found in Ayrshire on Sunday was missing Scot Jackson Mason.

The 31-year-old went missing on December 19 and was last seen around 4.30pm near the Fenwick Hotel in East Ayrshire, close to the M77.

His body was discovered at West Tannacrieff and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Devastated pals described him as a "pleasure to have know" as they sent their condolences to his family.

One person said: "Thoughts are with the family rest easy Jackson you were some boy pleasure to have known."

Another added: "So so sorry for ur loss thinking of the family R.I.P. Fly high Jackson forever young ...heaven gained a special Angel in you."

"Rest In Peace Jackson. Such sad news. Thinking of Friends & Family at this very sad time. Fly High Jackson forever young," one person said.

Others described it as a "tragedy" and said he was "taken too soon".

Chief Inspector Nathan Calderwood, East Ayrshire area commander, said: "Our thoughts are with Jackson's family and friends at this difficult time.

"I would take the opportunity to thank the local community for their support throughout this enquiry."

A post mortem examination will be carried out and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
