The discovery of a body in regional Queensland has sparked a homicide investigation with police confident it is a 31-year old mother reported missing earlier this month.
Rene Latimore was reported missing from Koumala, south of Mackay, on August 18. Police found the body as part of a search operation on Sunday afternoon.
DNA evidence is needed to formally identify the body and investigators are treating the death as suspicious.
Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said the property had belonged to Ms Latimore's family for "quite some time" and had only recently been sold.
"When I say only recently ... the family have not left that property," he said on Monday.
He confirmed it had been purchased by Mackay regional councillor Martin Bella.
There is nothing to suggest the sale is connected to the discovery of the body.
The property is more than 240 hectares in size and consists of cattle grazing land, dense bush and rainforest.
Police are appealing to anyone who had interactions with Ms Latimore prior to her disappearance to come forward.
