Body discovered in Scottish town as road closed and people urged to avoid area

A ROAD has been closed, and people have been urged to avoid the area by police after the body of a man was discovered in Motherwell.

Officers were alerted to the discovery of the body of a 57-year-old man in the Calder Road area of Motherwell at around 8.35am on Saturday.

Police have closed Calder Road from Rosevale Crescent to the A721 Bellshill Road to all pedestrians and motorists.

People have also been asked to avoid the area if possible.

The force said they believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Officers remain in the area while the investigation continues, and anyone with any concerns have been told to approach them.
