Body discovered in car in western Victoria

Police say the car may have been at the roadside for some time.

Police are investigating after a dead body was found in a car in western Victoria.

Officers stopped at the seemingly broken-down vehicle in Yulecart, near Hamilton, on Tuesday morning and discovered a woman's body.

The deceased has yet to be formally identified.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

"It is believed the vehicle may have been at the location for a number of days," the spokesperson said.

"At this stage it is yet to be determined whether the death is suspicious, and investigators will await the results of a post mortem."

Police found the vehicle parked near the intersection of Kirkwoods Road and Dartmoor-Hamilton Road in Yulecart, about five minutes west of Hamilton.

Anyone who saw a car parked in the area since Sunday is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
