Body believed to be missing Leeds man found at Temple Newsam

A body believed to be missing Leeds man Stephen Jarvis has been found at Temple Newsam.

Stephen, 54, from Halton, was reported missing on Friday.

Police issued an urgent appeal to find him.

This morning West Yorkshire Police has announced a body was found yesterday.

'High risk' Mr Jarvis had been wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and a turquoise slip, and had a cast on his left leg.

In a statement the force said: "A body believed to be that of a missing man has been found in Leeds.

"Stephen Jarvis, aged 54, from Halton, was reported missing on Friday evening and was the subject of a public appeal.

"Mountain rescue volunteers supporting the police search for him found the body in woodland at Temple Newsam yesterday afternoon.

"While formal identification is yet to be confirmed, it is believed to be that of Mr Jarvis.

"His family have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the Coroner’s Office has been notified."
