POLICE have recovered a body they is believed to belong to missing woman Adele Morrison, 78, after she went missing during flooding near Gloucester.
Ms Morrison was last seen leaving her Port Macquarie home on March 16 and was reported missing the next day.
Investigations revealed Ms Morrison had attended a shopping centre at Gloucester about 10.45am on March 16, and police later found her car on Barrington East Road on March partially submerged in floodwater after the deluges that had struck the state.
That discovery, with no-one in the car, prompted police to search the vehicle and then the river late last month.
But it was this weekend that they made the tragic discovery.
A property owner alerted detectives on Saturday evening after finding the body of a woman on the riverbank of his rural property along Barrington West Road.
Manning Great Lakes officers attended and established a crime scene.
Forensic officers combed the location.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, NSW Police said on Sunday they believe it to be Ms Morrison.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner," police said in a statement.
