Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham LIVE: Europa League result, latest updates and reaction after Spurs reach final

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham LIVE

Tottenham have kept their season alive by reaching the Europa League final. Spurs lead 3-1 from the semi-final first leg against Bodo/Glimt and scored twice in the decider in Norway to set up a showpiece fixture in 13 days' time against Manchester United in what will be an all-English final in Bilbao.

Ange Postecoglou's side produced arguably their best performance of the campaign at the Aspmyra Stadion. They got through the first half in comfortable fashion and once Dominic Solanke broke the deadlock on the night with a poacher’s finish, the tie was effectively over even with just under half an hour to play.

As it turned out the artificial pitch did not prove a factor, not did the returns of several key Bodo/Glimt players including captain Patrick Berg as Pedro Porro wrapped up the tie with somewhat of a fluke finish. Follow Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham back below, with expert analysis from Standard Sport’s Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion.

Tottenham player ratings

22:16 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Pedro Porro 8

Surely did not mean his goal but provided much-needed creativity and impetus in the absence of James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall. Went close to an opener with a 20-yard free-kick which was well-saved.

Cristian Romero 8

Made the opening goal with a nod down for Solanke and unflustered defensively in an assured display.

Micky van de Ven 8

Made some big tackles in a no-nonsense display.

Tottenham into Europa League final

22:14 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham are through to the Europa League final after overcoming Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate in their semi-final showdown.

One of the big stories from the first leg was the late strike from Ulrik Saltnes which gave this fixture a different outlook ahead of kick-off in Norway.

That goal coupled with an artificial pitch, Bodo/Glimt’s impressive home form and the return of key players such as Marcus Berg, a difficult night was predicted for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, it was a relative straight forward assignment near the Arctic Circle for the north London outfit who can now prepare for a Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21, 2025.

And that will be that. I was right behind that and Porro surely did not mean it but no-one associated with Spurs will care. It is the goal that surely wraps up this tie and sends Spurs to Bilbao.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

21:24 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Huge moment in the tie and Spurs' season as Solanke surely puts this tie beyond the hosts with 30 minutes to play. Spurs have not been spectacular but they have dug in and showed plenty of grit again.

Back underway at the Aspmyra Stadion!

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

20:49 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

HT, 0-0: A scrappy half, low on chances suits Spurs down to the ground. They are nearly in Bilbao after a noticeably pragmatic showing from Postecoglou's side so far here in Norway.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:37 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

35 min: Great ball in by Hauge as he picks out Hogh who gets in between Romero and van de Ven.

However, the Bodo/Glimt striker can’t guide his header on target. Big warning for Spurs.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

20:35 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Both sides have seen a free-kick palmed away by the goalkeeper but there have been precious few chances from open play. It's cagey and tense, and you wonder if it might take a mistake to lead to a goal and open the game up.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:34 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

33 min: Yellow card for Johnson as he catches Hauge late. No complaints about that decision.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:34 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

32 min: Berg goes for goal but Vicario is alert and swipes the ball behind for a corner.

Taken by Berg but Spurs clear, Solanke tries to get the visitors up the pitch but Bodo/Glimt get players back in time.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:32 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

30 min: Spurs with some defending to do, to their credit, they do it well as they force Bodo/Glimt all the way back into their own half.

More defending is on the way as Udogie trips Blomberg and the hosts have a free-kick in a dangerous area.

Berg standing over the ball.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:28 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

26 min: Blomberg is a lucky boy, he goes down under minimal contact from van de Ven and gets a free-kick.

However, the hosts don’t keep possession for long, Hogh commits a foul second later then shows dissent which earns him a yellow card.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

20:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

The most striking thing about Spurs' performance so far is Vicario's willingness to linger over goal-kicks and punt them long. But Spurs have put together a couple of eye-catching moves in transition too. It's Ange-ball but with hard edges and dark arts.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

23 min: Good hit by Porro but Haikin is equal to the attempt and tips the ball over for a corner.

Porro takes and Bodo/Glimt clear their lines.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:23 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

21 min: Free-kick to Spurs in a dangerous area as Solanke is tripped by Berg.

Promising position this, Pedro Porro territory...

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:18 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

15 min: CLOSE

Richarlison and Udogie combine down the left, the latter flashes the ball across the face of goal but there are no takers as the hosts clear their lines.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

13 min: Porro whips a corner into the near post, van de Ven gets first contact with a flick-on but he gets too much on his header and the ball drifts out of play.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

20:11 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

There's an early indication that Spurs are prepared to be pragmatic tonight: Vicario lingers with the ball as long as possible, prompting howls and whistles from the home fans.

Less than five minutes in, Spurs are already working to run down the clock.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:09 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

7 min: Positive play from Bodo/Glimt down the left but Porro does well to stick with Hague a concede a corner.

Blomberg, unmarked at the back post, receives the ball but shoots into the side netting.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:07 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

4 min: First attack from Bodo/Glimt but Hauge’s cross into the box doesn’t reach Hogh and Vicario claims the ball under no pressure.

Bodo/Glimt 0-0 Tottenham (agg: 1-3)

20:04 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

2 min: Decent start made by Spurs, penning Bodo/Glimt back in their own half. Richarlison has a shot deflected after being picked out by Bentancur.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

20:02 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

The announcement of the Glimt line-up was accompanied by a deafening firework display which has filled the little ground with smoke. It's now almost impossible to see across to the other side of the stadium, where the home fans appear to have unveiled a Minions-theme banner in one corner.

It’s been raining here for about an hour already but the groundstaff have nonetheless unleashed the water cannon to give the artificial pitch a final soak.

It’s going to be very slick and presumably very fast indeed.

Spurs face a tricky test in the Arctic Circle

19:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

On the six-year anniversary of Tottenham's comeback at Ajax in their last European semi-final, the conditions for their Europa League decider against Bodo/Glimt here in the northernmost reaches of Norway on Thursday will be very different.

On a balmy evening in 2019, Spurs recovered from being 3-0 down on aggregate at half-time in Amsterdam but they have travelled to the Arctic Circle with a 3-1 lead from last week's game in London and facing a side with far less pedigree than Ajax.

And yet the match still feels fraught with potential danger for Ange Postecoglou's side.

Spurs should be able to cope with the chill, with the temperature set to be around 5C at kick-off, but a tight stadium and Glimt's artificial pitch will pose an enormous challenge.

Vicario reveals Spurs gameplan

19:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Guglielmo Vicario has urged Tottenham to play to their strengths by attacking Bodo/Glimt in tonight’s Europa League semi-final decider here in Norway.

Spurs have travelled to the Arctic Circle with a 3-1 lead from last week's first leg, leaving Ange Postecoglou's side potentially facing a delicate balancing act between protecting what they have and trying to kill off the tie.

Glimt are unbeaten at home in Europe this season and boast a formidable record on their artificial pitch, but Vicario says it would be a mistake for Spurs to prioritise trying to preserve their advantage.

Bodo/Glimt changes

19:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Bodo/Glimt are boosted by the returns of Patrick Berg and Hakon Evjen.

However, Andreas Helmersen has to settle for a place on the bench.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Aspmyra Stadion

19:05 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham's XI is as expected, really, with Dejan Kulusevski filling in for James Maddison at No.10 in the only change from the first leg. That means Richarlison keeps his place from the left wing in a third consecutive start, while Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur continue in midfield.

It's a youthful bench but in Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel, Ange Postecoglou has a couple of potential impact subs, while Mikey Moore is a wildcard.

Hoddle backs Spurs

18:30 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham should feel confident of scoring against Bodo/Glimt away from home in tonight's Europa League semi-final second leg to “kill the tie”, according to Glenn Hoddle.

Not only will Spurs have to contend with an artificial pitch in the Arctic Circle, they are facing a Bodo/Glimt side that are very impressive at home and will welcome back influential captain Patrick Berg.

But Hoddle believes Spurs have enough firepower to score in Norway to ultimately reach the Europa League final.

Ange Postecoglou hits back at Arsene Wenger

18:25 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou laughed off Arsene Wenger's claim that it is "not right" for the Europa League winners to qualify for the Champions League, saying: "Spurs does crazy things to people."

Former Arsenal manager Wenger, who is now FIFA's head of global football development, has called on UEFA to review the rule, which has been in place since the 2014/15 season.

Spurs and Manchester United are firm favourites to meet in the Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21, with the pair leading Bodo/Glimt and Athletic Club 3-1 and 3-0 respectively ahead of Thursday's semi-final deciders.

Predicted Tottenham XI

18:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Yves Bissouma deputised for Bergvall in the first leg and is likely to keep his place at the base of midfield after his best performance in weeks, while Dejan Kulusevski is the obvious replacement for Maddison at No10.

Richarlison played his part in Spurs' 3-1 first-leg win, setting up Brennan Johnson's 38-second opener before being hooked at the interval and could continue on the left flank, with the Wales winger and Dominic Solanke likely to make up the front three.

Ange Postecoglou's back five is likely to remain the same, with Destiny Udogie having moved ahead of Djed Spence at left-back since returning to fitness and form in recent weeks, while Rodrigo Bentancur is a shoo-in in midfield.

Radu Dragusin (knee) is also sidelined, while Sergio Reguilon, Antonin Kinsky and Timo Werner are ineligible in Europe.

Predicted Tottenham XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma, Kulusevski; Johnson, Richarlison, Solanke

Bodo/Glimt home form

18:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Bodo/Glimt's knockout results at home in the competition make for interesting reading. If they repeat their quarter-final first leg win (2-0) over Lazio in 90 minutes, then we will have extra-time. Though a repeat of the round of 16 second leg win over Olympiacos (2-0) would see them progress.

They did eventually overcome Twente in the knockout round playoff, but the game finished 3-2 after 90 minutes and that result would be good enough for Spurs tonight.

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham stats

18:05 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

- Tottenham won their last away UEFA Europa League game 1-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt, but haven’t won back-to-back away matches in major European competition since November 2013 (3 in the Europa League), and last did so in knockout stages in March 2008 (2 in the UEFA Cup).

- Including qualifiers, Bodo/Glimt have won nine of their last ten home European outings (L1), scoring 2+ goals in all but one of those matches – a 2-1 defeat to Qarabag during this season’s UEFA Europa League group stage.

- Tottenham recorded their eighth win in the UEFA Europa League this season in the first leg; they’ve never won nine matches in the same campaign across major European competition before.

- No side in the UEFA Europa League this season has netted more goals on home soil than Bodo/Glimt (19). Since the 2009-10 campaign in this competition, only Bayer Leverkusen have struck more home goals in a single season than the Norwegian outfit (21 in 2023-24).

Maddison blow

17:55 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that James Maddison will miss the rest of Tottenham’s season with a knee injury.

Maddison was injured in last week’s 3-1 Europa League semi-final first-leg win against Bodo/Glimt and scans have revealed he is facing an extended period on the sidelines.

The midfielder has been ruled out of the final three weeks of the season, meaning he will miss the Europa League final in Bilbao on May 21 if Spurs get there, and is a doubt for the start of pre-season, too.

Losing Maddison is a major blow to Spurs, who will also be without Lucas Bergvall for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

Son latest

17:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son remains sidelined and is not in the squad for the game in the Arctic Circle tonight.

Son has missed the last five Spurs games due to a troublesome foot injury and the South Korean is still not ready to return despite being back in training.

“No [Son hasn't travelled]. Disappointing for Sonny," Postecoglou told reporters yesterday. "He has progressed and he's a possibility to get minutes at the weekend [against Crystal Palace] but he hasn't trained with the team yet.”

Solanke boost

17:45 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham’s hopes of reaching the Europa League final have been boosted after Dominic Solanke was passed fit for the second leg of their semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

Solanke was forced off after feeling his quad in last week’s 3-1 first-leg win over Bodo/Glimt in north London and then missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham in the Premier League.

But Ange Postecoglou has confirmed the striker is fit to return and lead the line for Spurs.

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham stats

17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

- In the history of the UEFA Europa League since its rebrand ahead of the 2009-10 season, there have been 92 instances of a side winning the first leg of a knockout match on home soil by a 2+ goal margin, of which only nine have failed to progress in the overall tie. All eight prior semi-finalists to achieve the feat have progressed to the final.

- Across their major European history, Bodo/Glimt have lost all four of their matches against English opposition, including their only one on home soil vs Arsenal in October 2022 (0-1). Each of the other three defeats have seen the Norwegian side concede exactly three goals

- With their 3-1 first leg victory, Tottenham made it five wins out of five against Norwegian opposition in major European competition. They’ve never faced sides from a specific country more often whilst keeping a 100% win-rate in the process

- Bodo/Glimt have lost seven of their last 12 knockout matches in European competition (W3 D2), although all three victories during that time for the Norwegian side have come on home soil, including a 2-0 victory over Lazio at the quarter final stage.

Score prediction

17:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Much has been made of Glimt’s artificial pitch, and rightly so. Their record in front of their own fans cannot be ignored; just one defeat in seven in the competition this season with a +11 goal difference. Spurs’ only other experience of playing on an artificial pitch this season saw them taken to extra time in the FA Cup by non-league Tamworth.

Their late first-leg consolation will give Glimt real hope of completing a stunning comeback, and an early goal in the second leg could really put the frighteners into the Spurs squad. Ange Postecoglou will be telling his players to likely keep it tight for the opening stages, gaps will open up as the hosts push for the goals they need. One Spurs goal could kill the tie.

Bodo/Glimt to win, 2-1

Tottenham team news: Maddison out

17:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Tottenham will be without James Maddison, who is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, but Dominic Solanke is in contention.
