Bodies of two men found near beach and at foot of cliffs in Gower

The bodies of two people have been discovered at separate parts of Gower

Emergency services were called to Limeslade beach in Mumbles following concerns about the welfare of an elderly male, at around 4.45pm on Monday night.

A body of a man was subsequently recovered at Rams Tor, just west of the bay. 

A short while later, at around 8.45pm, police were alerted to the discovery of a male body at the bottom of cliffs in Port Eynon .

Neither incident is thought to be suspicious.

The incidents involved the police, Rhossili Coasguard rescue teams as well as the coastguard helicopter, The Welsh Ambulance Service including the air ambulance, and RNLI teams from Mumbles and Horton.

Mumbles Cricket Club was used as a base for helicopters, to ensure they could land and take off safely.

How does a missing persons investigation work?

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We were called to concerns for the welfare of an elderly male at Limeslade Beach. There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and the HM coroner has been informed.

“We were also called to reports of a male body being located at the bottom of cliffs in Port Eynon. Enquiries are ongoing but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time and the HM Coroner has been informed.”
