Searchers have retrieved the bodies of two elderly South Koreans who drowned in the Nan River after their buggy was rear-ended on a pier at a golf course in Phrom Phiram district on Tuesday.
Phitsanulok governor Pipat Ekpapan said the body of Jun Yong-sung, 68, was found floating in the river about 10.30pm on Wednesday.
It was recovered about 2.5 kilometres from the Prompiram Suannam & Golf Club in tambon Sri Phirom where the incident occurred.
The body of Jaseoong Ha, 76, was found about 10km downstream yesterday morning. It is not known if either gentleman could swim.
Their bodies were taken to Buddhachinaraj Hospital in Muang district, pending their return to South Korea.
The provincial governor said local authorities were looking at ways to improve safety on waterways throughout Phitsanulok to prevent such accidents happening again.
The men were playing a round of golf at the course, accompanied by their wives, on Tuesday morning. Their buggy was rear-ended by their wives' cart on the pier while they were waiting to cross the river, which flows through the course.
Earlier reports saying the bodies had been recovered were incorrect.
