Bodies of man, 43, and woman, 44, found at house

An investigation is underway after two bodies were found at a house.

Police were called to the address on Parbold Avenue, St Helens, on Bank Holiday Friday.

They discovered a man and a woman who had died, aged 43 and 44.

Today, detectives have revealed they were not treating the tragedies, in Blackbrook, as suspicious.

A post-mortem examination was carried out in recent days which confirmed there was no foul play involved.

Toxicology tests are being carried out to see if either person had ingested anything which might have been a factor in their deaths.

Police know the identities of the two people, but their names are yet to be confirmed.

A statement released today from Merseyside Police said: "The deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

"The results of the post-mortems have been withheld pending toxicology results."

It followed the discovery four days ago, when officers arrived at the address in the afternoon.

In relation to that, a spokeswoman added: "At around 2pm, officers were called to Parbold Avenue to reports of a man and woman being found.

"Paramedics attended and both were confirmed as deceased at the scene.

"Forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing as detectives look to confirm the man and woman’s identities and establish the circumstances."
