The bodies of a man and woman have been found inside a house in Sunderland.
Police had been called to the address on Wednesday after receiving a report of concern for a woman.
Shortly after 10am, officers were sent to Satley Gardens in the Tunstall area where they made the discovery.
They say there is not believed to be any third party involvement.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "An investigation has been launched after the bodies of two people were found inside a house in Sunderland.
"Shortly after 10am today (Wednesday), we received a report of concern for a woman at an address on Satley Gardens, Sunderland.
"Emergency services attended and found the bodies of a man and a woman inside the property. Their next of kin have been notified.
"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, but at this early stage it is not believed that there was any third party involvement.
"Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and there is no wider threat to the public.
