Bodies of 4 of a family fished out from canal in Haryana's Ambala

AMBALA: A day after a car occupied by four members of a family allegedly fell into Narwana branch canal, the Ambala district police fished-out the vehicle near Ismailpur village in Naggal police station area on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Kulbir Singh (40), Kamaljit (38), Jashanpreet (16) and Sukhpreet (11), all residents of Tiwana village of Lalru area in SAS Nagar district, police said.

Ambala superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said that with the help of divers and other teams, a car was fished-out around 4 pm from the canal in Naggal area.

He said that the Ambala police received information about the incident and rescue operations were carried out.

Inspector Anant Ram, Naggal SHO said, "Inquest proceedings were carried out and the bodies have been kept at the civil hospital in Ambala City. Autopsies will be conducted in the presence of family members Tuesday. So far, we have not received any complaints and the matter is being investigated. The case appears to be of accident."
