Bode Miller delivers wife’s twin boys after midwife is late

Olympic Gold Medalist skier Bode Miller and his wife Morgan welcome identical twin boys into the world on Nov. 8, but dad played more than just a parenting role in the delivery.

The couple shared their unique birthing story publicly on Tuesday, explaining how their midwife did not show up in time for the birth and Bode helped deliver the babies instead. The 42-year-old former Olympian had help from his mother, who is a former midwife, but still described the experience as, “one of the more crazy things I’ve ever experienced.”

Morgan shared a picture of her newest baby boys on her Instagram page, writing “November 8th✨ A day that couldn’t have been scripted and aligned more perfectly to bring these two into the world. The birth story is mind-blowing and can’t wait to share. Insanely overwhelmed and grateful for all these gifts my baby girl keeps sending.”

The Millers now have four sons as the twins join their older brothers, Edward and Easton, in the household. The couple lost their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, in a drowning accident about a year ago while Morgan was pregnant with Easton. The reference to the Millers’ “baby girl,” is a nod to their lost child, who the couple believes is a part of them having twins. When Morgan shared her pregnancy announcement, she wrote ““we knew Emmy had her hands in this miracle somehow.”

Bode has said publicly he wanted twin boys. The twins have two other older siblings as Bode also has a daughter and a son who are not Morgan’s children.
