Bobby Wagner sets Seahawks franchise record for tackles

In the first quarter of the Seattle Seahawks Week 8 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, linebacker Bobby Wagner brought down running back Devonta Freeman after a one yard gain.

It was the 985th tackle of Wagner’s career, moving him past safety Eugene Robinson for first place in franchise history.

Wagner was expected to break the record this week, but he said it was not something he was focusing on while preparing for this game.

“It’s kind of a testament to hard work,” Wagner said on Wednesday. “When you first enter the league, you kind of don’t know what your career is going to look like, and I still feel like I have a lot left, but to be at the top of a list like that with all the players that played here would definitely be a blessing. But I’ve got a lot more games to play. I can’t say I’m really focused on it, I’m just trying to enjoy the game and play with passion.”

Wagner has been with the Seahawks since 2012. He has made five Pro Bowls and is a four-time All-Pro.

He has cemented himself as the best linebacker in the league, and now as the best tackler in franchise history.
