Bobby Wagner: Contract details for returning Seahawks legend’s one-year deal

The Seahawks brought back former linebacker Bobby Wagner last weekend on what was reported to be a one-year deal worth a total of $7 million.

Now we have more information about Wagner’s new contract.

According to Aaron Wilson, Bobby’s deal includes $5.5 million guaranteed, including a $1.25 million signing bonus. He also has $1.5 million in incentives.

This is a pretty remarkable deal for a defender who was slated to make around $20 million last season before Seattle released him.

After the Seahawks let him go Wagner signed a five-year deal with the Rams and quickly returned to form, re-establishing himself as the best off-ball linebacker in the NFL. In the end, Wagner earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade at his position.

However, LA is feeling the sting of their all-in approach to the 2021 season and is in fire-sale mode. Wagner was released and got interest from several teams – including the Cowboys and Chargers – before settling on returning to Seattle.
