Bobby Wagner agrees to 3-year, $54M contract extension with Seahawks

The wait is finally over. Linebacker Bobby Wagner has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to tweet the news Friday evening.

The deal is worth $40.2 million guaranteed, Rapoport said. At $18 million per year, Wagner — as was his goal — will be the highest-paid linebacker in the league.

Wagner, who had been representing himself in the negotiations, had been present at Seahawks camp but had not been participating in drills. Not wanting to get injured before a new deal was done, Wagner had been watching from the sideline.

Now that Seattle has Wagner locked in for another three years, the Seahawks can return their attention back to training camp.

The players have an off day Saturday but resume full practice Sunday morning. Expect Wagner in pads and on the field with the rest of his teammates.
