Bobby Wagner 1 of NFL’s 9-most indispensable defensive players

Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner remains at the top of his game as he continues to negotiate his contract extension with Seattle.

Recently named the best linebacker in the league, Wagner has now landed on another list nearly as impressive.

Ahead of the start of training camps and the 2019 season, Adam Schein of NFL.com took a look at the nine most indispensable defensive players and Wagner came in at No. 5.

“Wagner is the best pound-for-pound player on the Seahawks,” Schein starts. “He is en route to the Hall of Fame. With the ‘Legion of Boom’ and big-name linemen all gone now, Wagner is the link to the epic era of Seahawks domination on defense.”

In Wagner’s seven years in Seattle, he has been named to five Pro Bowls and four First-Team All-Pro squads. He repeatedly leads the team in tackles and is as dependable as a player gets.

“And even when you consider all the high-wattage stars from that era, never get fooled: Other guys talked while playing great, but Bobby Wagner – always and forever – is the pulse of the Seahawks,” Schein concludes.

The Seahawks and Wagner have until July 24 to agree to a new deal if both sides are intent on locking things before the start of training camp.
