Bobby Sherman, the quintessential teen heartthrob of the late 1960s and early 1970s, has died aged 81 after battling stage 4 kidney cancer.

From chart success and television fame to a second career in emergency services, Sherman led a life of varied achievements. Here's what to know about his net worth, music and television career.

Net Worth and Financial Legacy

At the time of his death, Bobby Sherman's net worth was estimated at around US$8 million (approximately £6.3 million). His wealth derived from a successful career spanning music, television and later public service work.

Although he had stepped away from the spotlight after 2001, Sherman remained financially stable through ongoing royalties and his work as an emergency medical technician and reserve police officer.

Musical Stardom: Chart Success and Teen Appeal

Robert Cabot Sherman Jr. was born on 22 July 1943 in Santa Monica, California. His major breakthrough came through the ABC variety series Shindig! in the mid-1960s. He then starred in Here Come the Brides (1968 to 1970), where his on-screen charm and singing propelled him to teen idol status.

Sherman scored four Top 10 Billboard hits such as 'Little Woman,' 'Julie, Do Ya Love Me,' 'Easy Come, Easy Go' and 'La La La (If I Had You)'. His album Here Comes Bobby remained in the charts for 48 weeks and peaked at No 10. By the early 1970s, he had earned seven gold singles and five gold albums, selling more than five million records between 1969 and 1971.

Acting Career and Return to Emergency Services

Sherman's television roles extended to Getting Together (1971 to 1972), The Monkees, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat and a guest role on Frasier in 1997. His film credits include He Is My Brother (1975) and the cult comedy Get Crazy (1983).

Following his peak years in music and television, Sherman made a significant career change. In the mid-1970s he became a certified emergency medical technician, inspired by an experience caring for his sons that sparked an interest in first aid. He trained Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers in CPR and first aid and was named Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999. Later, he served as a reserve deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County and retired from law enforcement in 2010.

Final Years and Philanthropy

Sherman's late-life diagnosis of stage 4 kidney cancer was made public in March 2025. He passed away peacefully at his home in Encino, Los Angeles, on 24 June 2025. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Brigitte Poublon, his first wife Patti Carnel, and two sons from that marriage, Tyler and Christopher, along with six grandchildren.

In 2011, he and Brigitte established the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children's Foundation in Ghana to support education and nutrition for underprivileged children. He frequently expressed gratitude for his life journey. In an interview in 1997 with Tulsa World, he reflected that while he would not change anything about his life, he wished he had taken more time to savour it.

Bobby Sherman's life spanned pop stardom, television fame, emergency service and philanthropy. Together, these experiences illustrate a multifaceted legacy. With a net worth of around US$8 million (approximately £6.3 million), his career successes financed lives of genuine altruism and public service. At 81, he leaves a legacy that extends far beyond teenage fandom. In emergency rooms, police academies and Ghanaian classrooms, he remains a symbol of compassion, dedication and enduring cultural impact.
