Bobby Madden slated by Rangers star Alfredo Morelos' agent as ref branded 'the worst thing to come out of Scotland'

Bobby Madden is not a popular man in Finland.

The Scots whistler's decision to award Italy a late penalty that consigned the Finns to a cruel 2-1 victory hasn't gone down well with some.

Madden pointed to the spot after a Nicolo Barella shot struck Sauli Vaisenen from close range in the box.

The defender's arm was closed in tight to his bed but under stringent new rules the penalty was awarded and Jorginho rolled home to snatch victory for the Italians.

Madden took plenty of stick on social media for the call but few were more scathing than Jonne Lindblom.

The Finnish agent, involved in the deal that brought Alfredo Morelos to Ibrox, branded "bald Scottish fella" Madden as "the worst thing to come out Scotland".

Finland, featuring Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara and former Celtic striker Teemu Pukki, looked on course for a draw until the late controversy.

Ciro Immobile had given Italy the lead just shy of the hour mark before Pukki levelled matters from the penalty spot.

A draw would have kept Finland within three points of the Group J leaders, a lead that has now been stretched to six.

Finland do, however, remain three ahead of Armenia as they remain on course to qualify for Euro 2020 .
