Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie 'hospitalised after falling off stage'

Bobby Gillespie, the frontman of Primal Scream, has reportedly been hospitalised after falling off the stage at a festival in Switzerland.

The band were performing at the Caribana festival in Switzerland on Thursday when Gillespie fell seven foot into the crowd, reports NME.

The 53-year-old singer was carried away on a stretcher before being taken to hospital to receive medical attention for “minor injuries”.

The band have not provided an updated on Gillespie’s condition but tweeted to thank fans for their well-wishes and said they are waiting to hear an update before setting off on the road again.

The group were performing at the event on the Big Stage but were reportedly forced to cut short their set after Gillespie’s accident.

The band, who released their first album Sonic Flower Grove in 1987, are next scheduled to perform at the Azkena Festival in Spain on June 17. Their next UK performance is set to be the Beat-Herder Festival in Lancashire in July.

A representative for Gillespie said they had no further comment.
