Bobby Burns admits uncertain Hearts future as loanee pinpoints 'number one objective'

Bobby Burns confesses his Hearts future is up in the air, but insists his priority remains breaking into the first team at Tynecastle.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international was sent on loan to the Newcastle Jets of the A League in September, while Craig Levein was still manager.

He's since been replaced by Daniel Stendel and Burns admits he's not sure if he'll be in the German's plans going forward.

He told The Roar: "The objective of coming out here was to get games and improve and then return to Hearts. My number one objective is to go back to Hearts and break into the team.

"In saying that, there are so many players there that you can go from first choice to fourth choice very quickly.

"There are so many variables, Hearts have a new manager too. There’s no point worrying about those things though.

"My objective now is to enjoy and play the best I can for the remainder of the season. Good performances will lead to positive results.

"I'm learning a lot here. I could have gone to England and played League One or Two, but I don’t think I would have learned anything different.

"Coming to the A-League, players pass the ball more, it is technical and there is the fitness element. I really think I’ve developed those elements of my game as in passing and my fitness."
