Bob Myers, Rick Welts reach multi-year deals with the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have reached multi-year deals with president of basketball operations Bob Myers and president and chief operating officer Rick Welts. For Myers, it is a multi-year contract extension while Welts will sign a new multi-year deal, according to the New York Times‘ Marc Stein.

Both men have been integral to the Warriors’ success in the Stephen Curry era and a choice to retain their services could indicate the franchise’s desire to keep everything and everyone in place for the 2019-20 season and beyond. Keeping the front office masterminds in their positions is a good move for a team that has two of its superstar players entering unrestricted free agency beginning on Sunday, June 30, at 6:01 p.m. ET.

With Kevin Durant (Achilles) ruled out for the season and Klay Thompson (ACL) bound to miss much of it, Myers and Welts will have their work cut out for them to cull together a viable, championship-contending roster.

Based on the comments of Andre Iguodala during his recent book tour, perhaps the Warriors will need to rethink their medical staff, though.
