Bob Mortimer has issued a health update after being forced to give up his hobby earlier in the year.
The comedian, 63, spoke to Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch following the launch of his new book titled The Satsuma Complex, which is also available as an audiobook narrated by the star.
Revealing issues that are plaguing him, he admitted certain aspects have meant him cutting back on a number of things in life he used to love.
It comes after Bob has experienced a number of health scares in recent years, including needing to be admitted to hospital recently.
In 2015, the comic needed to have triple heart bypass surgery, and his most recent scare came in September. He said at the time he wasn't "very healthy," but his rep later reported he was doing fine.
His latest update comes after the breakfast show presenters asked the Gone Fishing star about the health of his and co-star Paul Whitehouse's hearts. Bob told them: "When you get to my age, it's your joints that go. That's what dominates your life."
He added as examples how he sometimes struggles with his knee and elbow joints, revealing they had caused him to give up his passion. He said: "I used to love preparing an exterior of a property ready to paint, but I can't do that anymore."
Describing his reasons, he suggested doing so could be painful for his shoulders too and he admitted he is unable to move his arms and shoulders as freely as he used to when he was younger.
After discussing how he'd had a few operations, he told how such procedures help "keep you ticking over".
Bob's new book was described as a "boy meets girl" story, though he teased there is a "bit of a thriller element" too. He said he has tried to incorporate comedy into the project.
