Bob Mortimer says 'I'm not very well at the moment' after he's taken to hospital

Bob Mortimer, who is best known for his role in the BBC show Gone Fishing, has revealed he is 'not very well' following a recent hospital visit. Several years ago Bob underwent a triple heart bypass.

The comedy star revealed his recent trip to hospital on Richard Herring’s podcast. He said: “I am not very well. I am not very healthy at the moment. I did a show last week, a fishing show and there was only two and a half days filming and I did it Tuesday, Wednesday, and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday.

“I am sorry I should not have said that should I? It's a real downer.” He added: “I think because I was a smoker and an incredibly fast runner and a very dramatic dancer and I put that all in my younger years."

Bob believes his body is aging faster than him and that he is "counting down the years". He said: “I think I am about 10 years ahead of myself with my body ageing.” He said last year: “I did some things after the operation that I wouldn’t have done before. It felt like a brush with mortality. I realised that you are counting down the years.”

Bob had a triple bypass in 2015 as his arteries were 95% blocked, as LeicestershireLive reports. It has previously been reported that the 63-year-old is at risk of over 20 cancers due to his weight gain in the new series of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.

As well as Gone Fishing Bob is also known for being half of the comedy duo Vic and Bob, with Vic Reeves. In 2015 they had to cancel the first leg of their live tour 25 Years of Reeves and Mortimer: The Poignant Moments, as Bob underwent his emergency triple heart bypass surgery.
