Bob Marley’s penchant for punk

Vivien Goldman’s article on the Bob Marley biopic One Love (‘Firebrand, poet and heart-throb’: how the film One Love captures the truth about Bob Marley, 9 February) says: “The movie also has Marley looking baffled at a London punk gig. Did he really go to one?” The answer to that question is yes, he did. He went to the Music Machine in Camden to see the Clash. How do I know? Because I was standing right behind him. I also saw Marley a few times when he played in London and was definitely not the only punk in the audience – there was a relationship between punks (Anti-Nazi League rallies were very much punk affairs) and Rastas.
