Bob MacIntyre wants Andy Murray brainstorming session as Scot looks to get over his own Majors hurdle

Bob MacIntyre admits he'd love a brainstorming session with fellow Scot Andy Murray as he seeks his first Major title at the Open.

The left-hander from Oban tied for sixth on his Major debut at Royal Portrush in 2019. And the world No.53, who won his first European Tour title in Cyprus last year, has gone on to make the cut in all three US Majors this season.

Murray lost five Grand Slam finals before winning Wimbledon aged 26 in 2013.

And sports mad MacIntyre, now 24 and playing his seventh Major - he tees off just before 3pm today - said: “He is a legend of Scottish sports - he is someone I can really relate to.

"He has the same fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude as me. He has been unbelievable for tennis and sport in Scotland.

"And he is still trying his best. It is the same with a lot of golfers. They get older and it becomes more difficult. It is obviously easier the younger you are, the body is fresher and you have not done as many miles on the road.

“But he has been brilliant. It would be great to speak to him and pick his brains. I would certainly settle for three Majors – the same number as he has won!"
