Bob MacIntyre makes The Open Championship cut after impressive birdie seals seven major streak

Scots golfer Bob MacIntyre has been confirmed in making the cut at The Open at Royal St George's.

The 24-year-old from Oban sunk a seven-foot birdie to secure his place as the only Scottish contender in the major championship.

It's now seven consecutive majors made by the left hander who played in his first one almost two years ago.

As the nation’s only representative at Sandwich this week, he stood an 80/1 chance to follow in the footsteps of Sandy Lyle and Paul Lawrie by lifting the famous Claret Jug in the Open Championship.

MacIntyre's second round was finished with a one-under 69 to put him on the right side of the cut at +1 overall after the second circuit.

He tied for sixth on his Major debut at Royal Portrush in 2019. And the world No.53, who won his first European Tour title in Cyprus last year, has gone on to make the cut in all three US Majors this season.

The left-hander is competing in his seventh Major but is yet to win one.
