You have to hand it to Bob Hoskins, who appears doing his own stunts in a violent fight scene in drama The Street, which airs later this month on BBC1. But it wasn't part of the original plans. A stunt double was hired but when he turned up was totally unsuitable to film the scene in which Hoskins, playing a pub landlord, gets into a fight with a local gangster. The 5ft 6in Hollywood star said: "You could say I've done a few fight scenes in my time, but this one was quite tough. I wound up doing my own stunts because, when the stuntman turned up, he was 6ft 6in. Then the director said he wanted it really violent. I know how to act – it's getting bashed up that's not such fun."
