Bob Harris ‘overwhelmed’ by fan response after emotional BBC Radio 2 departure

• Veteran broadcaster Bob Harris has been left “overwhelmed by the love that’s come in” after announcing his decision to step down from radio after almost six decades.
• The decision was made weeks after the BBC Radio 2 favourite revealed his prostate cancer had spread to his spine.
• Harris described the choice as “one of the hardest decisions” of his life , and has now shared a new video thanking fans “for all the messages” he’s received.
• He also extended gratitude to his family and wife Trudie, for their support.
• Harris has been a prominent voice on the airwaves for 56 years and joined Radio 2 in 1996.
