Hoping Davie gets better soon.

New Mexico’s win over Sam Houston State was overshadowed by head coach Bob Davie who was taken to the hospital as what is being described as a “serious medical incident.” His wife Joanne was seen in the front seat of the ambulance that took Davie to the hospital.

The scheduled press conference was canceled, and all press present were told that UNM athletics director Eddie Nunez would be releasing a statement regarding the incident involving Coach Davie.

The school released a statement shortly after the incident.

“Immediately following tonight’s football game between The University of New Mexico and Sam Houston State, Lobo head coach Bob Davie was taken to the hospital as the result of what appeared to be a serious medical incident.”

Bob Davie who is 64 years old is his 8th season as the Head Lobo coach.

As for the game itself, the Lobos won its home opener against Sam Houston State 39-31 in front of an announced crowd 13,749.

With over 70 points scored between the two teams, it was an offensive game and not a lot of defense. The passing game took full effect for the Lobos as they threw for 340 yards between a combination of Brandt Hughes and Sheriron Jones.

Ahmari Davis led a Lobos rushing attack that showed signs of a few years ago by rushing for 107 yards, two touchdowns and a long run of 53 yards.
