Boardroom coup removes three Partick Thistle directors

An effective boardroom coup at Partick Thistle Football Club has seen three directors including the chair ousted with four new ones taking their place.

Leaving are Club chair Jacqui Low, hospitality industry consultant Michael Robertson and Duncan Smillie, the owner of the Glasgow Rocks Basketball team who only joined the board on 12 June.

Replacing them are Enterprise Foods chief executive and former Thistle chairman David Beattie, Ronnie Gilfillan who previously was a Thistle board director, club financial controller David Kelly and former Apex Hotels executive chairman Norman Springford.

A statement from the club announced the removal of the three directors “as instructed by a majority of shareholders of the company.”

The club statement said that “these changes take place immediately and comply with the articles of the company.”

The statement concluded: “The Board is committed to keeping supporters informed on developments at Partick Thistle Football Club and will aim to provide a further update later today.”
