Boa constrictor on the loose after escaping from Lincolnshire home

A boa constrictor is on the loose after escaping from its owner’s house in Lincolnshire.

Police have warned the public to not approach the reptile after it went missing at 7pm on Wednesday.

The snakes are not venomous but kill their prey by gripping it so tightly that blood and oxygen supplies are cut off.

A search for the pet is currently underway in the town of Boston, and officers believe it could be hiding in a garden shed.

The snake is described as having has white on its tail, with grey, black and brown spots.

The reptiles can grow up to 10 foot long, and can weigh up to 60lb.

They are usually found in South America, but are regularly bred and kept in captivity.
