Bo Nix drilled a ref with his first pass attempt in the Pac-12 championship game

The No. 5 Oregon Ducks probably wish they could redo their opening drive of the Pac-12 championship game against No. 3 Washington on Friday night. Specifically, Ducks quarterback Bo Nix — who’s having a standout season worthy of making him a Heisman Trophy finalist — probably wants his first pass against the Huskies back.

After Washington drained about half of the first-quarter clock on its way to a 3-0, Oregon’s Nix-led offense took the field and began its first drive on the Ducks’ own 25-yard line. But when Nix took the first snap and looked to receiver Troy Franklin, he didn’t exactly hit his target and instead drilled a referee.

And that ref happened to be wearing a camera, so we have multiple angles of Nix’s pass hitting him instead of Franklin’s hands.

Nix is having a great season, but not every pass can be perfect.
