Bo'ness Rattray Street fire: People urged to avoid the area as firefighters battle huge blaze

Fire crews are currently battling a major blaze at a scrap yard in Bo'ness.

People are being urged to avoid Rattray Street in the town while emergency services deal with the incident.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were contacted at 4.30pm and four appliances rushed to the scene. A height appliance was also called to attend.

Firefighters remain at the scene battling the flames, and police are telling people to stay away in the meantime.

A number of people have taken to social media to say that the building affected is a scrap yard, but was previously the Old Bo'ness Bakery.

Thick black smoke can be seen billowing out from the building, and those living nearby are being advised to keep all windows and doors shut.

Falkirk Police tweeted: "Emergency services are currently responding to a fire at a garage on Rattray Street. There is large clouds of heavy smoke emanating from this fire, and local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed."
