If there is one thing that Bo Jackson knows, it is dreaming big, and the former Heisman Trophy winner helped make a wish come true recently in Boca Raton, Fla.
Jackson was in town as a guest of the Red Meat Lover's Club for an event at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton that raised $10,000, enough to grant two life-changing wishes for critically-ill children in the community through Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.
"My mom always told me," Jackson told Cole, "treat people like you want to be treated. So, I would treat you like I would treat my own son, and I can't do anything but show you love."
The event featured live and silent auctions, a cooking demonstration by Jackson, steaks and a meeting between Cole Malone, a 14-year-old leukemia patient from Lake Worth, and the people responsible for granting his wish to go to Hawaii.
"He has talked about wanting to go to Hawaii for quite some time," said his mother Denise Malone. "He is so excited about having this opportunity to actually have a vacation, something that he has looked forward to with his family and we have so many activities planned. This is something he will think positively about and have lasting memories from."
