BMW, quad bikes and £20k cash seized from Encrochat suspect

A BMW car, around £20,000 and other suspected criminal property were seized by police today.

Merseyside officers arrested a 41-year-old man from Greater Manchester on suspicion of dealing heroin and cocaine and possession of criminal property.

The arrest was made as part of its Encrochat investigation, targeting drug suppliers using encrypted phones.

After his arrested, at an address in Worsley this morning, police recovered an estimated £20,000 in cash, a BMW, a recovery truck and two quad bikes.

The man will now be taken to a police station in Merseyside to be questioned by detectives.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "We arrested a 41 year-old man from Greater Manchester on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

"Officers from Merseyside Police attended at an address in Worsley this morning, Thursday 26th August, and arrested the man on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (heroin and cocaine) and possession of criminal property.

"Following his arrest officers recovered an estimated £20,000 in cash, a BMW, a recovery truck and two quad bikes.

"The man has been taken to a police station on Merseyside for questioning by detectives.

"The arrest comes as part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as Encrochat. "
