BMW left stranded on Skegness beach as coastguard issues warning

Police and the coastguard had to be called when a BMW got stranded on the Skegness beach.

Lincolnshire Police, HM Coastguard Skegness and HM Coastguard Wrangle were called to the beach near Seaview car park in Skegness on Sunday May 24.

HM Coastguard Sutton Bridge had to remind people that only emergency services and council vehicles are allowed to drive onto beaches - and it's not a place to park your car.

In a post on Facebook, HM Coastguard Sutton Bridge said: "H.M Coastguard Skegness & HM Coastguard Wrangle & Lincolnshire Police are currently providing safety cover while a car is being recovered from beach at Seaview carpark, Skegness.

"Only emergency services and council vehicles are allowed to drive onto beaches.

"At this time of the year the beaches aren’t lifeguarded which is a double risk to you and emergency responders. Help us to help you. Stay off the sand."

Despite toilets and car parks being open in Skegness, the council there is still urging people to stay away - in the hope that local services aren't overwhelmed if too many visitors descend on the coast.
