Harmehtab Singh Rarewala, alias Farid (32), co-accused in the BMW hit-and-run case, allegedly shot a partially nude video of victim Akansh Sen’s friend Sher Singh Shera (40) at his farmhouse in Landran, SAS Nagar, nearly four months ago, leading to a tussle between the two that culminated in the sensational murder, it has been learnt.

Farid, who was arrested in Haridwar, made the video after he along with his aides thrashed Shera and forced him to undress, sources said.

Akansh (28), a nephew of Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s wife and former MP Pratibha Singh, had succumbed to his injuries at the PGIMER on February 10, a day after he was run over by a BMW car driven by Balraj Singh Randhawa (31) with Farid sitting next to him.

Officials said a few days before the farmhouse incident, Shera and Farid, who then were friends, had an argument at Dagshai, near Kasauli, but the matter was settled there. They along with their friends had gathered at a property that Shera owns in the hill resort. Then they also fought in Manali over a petty issue. Then Farid called Shera to his Landran farmhouse to avenge this.

National shotgun shooter Deep Sidhu, at whose house a group of 11 people had gathered on February 9, was not aware of the rivalry between the two and, therefore, ended up inviting to a party in his place.

Key accused Balraj still at large

Balraj Singh Randhawa, accused of running his BMW over Akansh Sen, is still absconding. As many as 27 teams of UT police are carrying out raids at his possible hideouts to arrest him.

Also, the police are yet to recover the vehicle used in the crime.

Sources said he is hiding in Punjab and the police are putting pressure on his relatives to surrender.
