BMW found in River Avon at Keynsham - emergency services called

Emergency services were called to a car submerged in the River Avon amid fears there was someone stuck in the vehicle.

The BMW 3 Series left the road on Broadmead Lane in Keynsham last night (Sunday, January 4).

Thankfully a thorough search of the vehicle confirmed everyone in the car had managed to get out.

Rescue teams were called at 10.54pm, with Avon Fire and Rescue, Avon and Somerset Police and South Western Ambulance Service all attending.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews from Hicks Gate, Temple, Bedminster and Bath were mobilised at 10.54pm to reports of a RTC on Broadmead Lane, Keynsham.

"On arrival, firefighters found one vehicle had left the road and entered the river. All casualties self-rescued prior to our arrival.

"All casualties self-rescued prior to our arrival. Rescue lines were used to lift the vehicle from the water. Ambulance and Police were also in attendance."

Hicks Gate fire station also tweeted: "White watch have just attended a vehicle submerged in water with the possibility of 1 person still inside, after a thorough search with water rescue operatives the car was empty."
