Police have made an arrest following a serious crash near the Birkenhead Tunnel last night.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of an accident on Byrom Street just after 8pm, when it was reported a car and a motorbike had been involved in a crash.
Roads around the Birkenhead Tunnel were closed while fire crews, paramedics and police worked at the scene.
Merseyside Police said a motorbike rider had suffered "slight injuries" but a BMW driver, who stopped at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
A 45-year-old man from Leeds was taken in to custody and has now been released under investigation.
The crash caused a number of major road closures in the city centre, but were eventually opened around 9.10pm.
