A BMW driver gave police false details when they were caught speeding at 90mph on the M62 - before admitting they only had a 20-year-old provisional licence.
Officers stopped the car between junction 5 for Huyton and 6 for Tarbock Island, according to a tweet by North West Motorway Police on Sunday afternoon.
At first, the driver gave false details, police said.
But they later admitted to only having a provisional licence, which they'd had for 20 years.
Officers confirmed that the driver has now been reported for the offences.
They posted a picture of the blue BMW at 12.14pm.
The full tweet read: "This vehicle was stopped after being on M62 between junction 6 and 5 speeding at 90 mph.
"When stopped, after initially giving false details, it was confirmed that the driver had a provisional licence only which they'd had for 20 years.
"Driver reported for the offences."
