A driver is being probed over a devastating early morning crash which claimed the life of a much-loved fiance.
Andy Kelly was killed in the two vehicle crash in Anfield ten months ago as he was travelling on his way to work.
The 37-year-old suffered fatal injuries and died a short time after arriving at hospital.
Now, it has emerged how police are treating the tragedy as a criminal matter and are examining the incident as one of causing death by dangerous driving.
The driver of a BMW, which smashed into a red Vauxhall Corsa, carrying Mr Kelly who was a back seat passenger, was quizzed by detectives.
The Netherton man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, police have confirmed for the first time.

The 40-year-old was released under investigation.
It has also emerged how the driver of the Corsa, a man in his 60s, has also died, but not connected to the crash, at about 5.30am, on May 27, last year.
The accident happened on Belmont Road, at the junction with Breck Road.
The incident happened when the two cars smashed into each other outside the Paisley Gates pub.
The Corsa came to rest on the pavement, just inches from the pub, and a traffic light was also damaged by the impact.

At time, friends spoke of how Mr Kelly, who had a very young son, was preparing to tie the knot with his girlfriend during the late summer.
They described him as "kind and gentle."
The BMW motorist stopped at the scene of the crash.

The roof was removed from the Corsa by fire crews as they battled to save those inside the car.
Floral tributes were later left at the scene, and one said: "Andy you legend, love you always."
